It's run by a woman who essentially sounds like the Bird Box world's version of an anti-vax cult leader and the town has supposedly caught a creature. The entire story sees the characters taking a perilous journey to a town that sounds sketchy and too good to be true right from the start. All these plot points are sloppily and quickly wrapped up and smushed together in under 5 chapters. So throughout the story, the main plot points are Malorie living in constant fear that Gary would find her, Tom rebelling against Malorie's strict adherence to her safety rules and wanting to live rather than just surviving, and Malorie's search for her dad as a result of finding his name on a possible list of survivors.
